The façade combines a certain monumentality—appropriate to a Utrecht townhouse—with human scale, tactility, and warm natural materials. The sense of living from within, with full-width outdoor spaces, is also legible from the outside.
The spacious ground-floor apartments, equipped with elevators, are attractive to urban families, empty nesters, and active seniors. The wide, flexible floor plan allows for variations in lifestyle, configuration, number of rooms, and visual connections from front to back and across the width. A centrally located loggia with French balconies on both sides offers the possibility of enjoying views across the full width of the park, even from the heart of the home.
This building on the edge of the park introduces a passage between the inner courtyard and the park. It is accessible to all residents of the block and offers passersby a subtle, almost “secret” glimpse into the green inner world, thereby enhancing the spatial layering of the streetscape. During the day, the gate door can remain open, making the courtyard permeable and strengthening its relationship with the park. A “collective display case” next to the gate provides all residents of the block with space to showcase art, crafts, or other works. It is a small but visible gesture toward the street and a low-threshold way for people throughout the block to get to know one another.
